Shirley Mburu (she/her) — Kenya — is a researcher and strategist working to expand inclusive finance, climate innovation, and small- and medium-enterprise (SME)–led economic development across Africa. Over the past twelve years, she has led research, strategy, and advisory work shaping how development actors, policymakers, and financial institutions design offerings for underserved populations. She co-founded and led TECA (Triggering Exponential Climate Action), Africa’s first climate venture acceleration platform, supporting 55 founders across the continent under her leadership, half of them women, and has since expanded into Latin America. Shirley currently serves as Portfolio Lead for the LIF Entrepreneurship Initiative at BFA Global, supporting SMEs to scale into engines of job creation across Africa. She is committed to building economic pathways that are locally led and durable.
